For women with Raynaud's the breastwarmers are recommended in winter, and the merino breastpads in summer. This is because the breastwarmers are very warm, and can get too hot in summer. The merino breastpads are more breathable, they won't feel clammy if you start to sweat, making them ideal for summer use. The merino breastpads are also ideal for all year round use if you don't have severe Raynaud's. For women wanting to increase their milk supply the breastwarmers are recommended. For women with a mixture of Raynaud's and oversupply, I still recommend using the breastwarmers in winter, and using methods such as block feeding or room temperature cabbage leaves to manage your milk supply.
I highly recommend the oxidising heat packs for all women with Raynaud's. They provide at least 8 hours warmth, and using them over a few days is usually enough to stop frequent vasospasms for most women. The small wheat packs are ideal if your Raynaud's is relatively mild, as they only remain warm for about 20 minutes after heating them. Being reusable you don't have to worry about running out, making them very handy for women with Raynaud's to have. For severe Raynaud's the large wheat packs can provide great relief as they heat up a larger area, and are very soothing to use. The large wheat packs will stay warm for at a least half an hour after heating.
Raynaud's is a condition that is typically managed, not treated, and most women find that using a combination of methods gives them the best results. Using breastwarmers and heating solutions can also help reduce the amount of time that you need to take nifedipine for, and help keep your Raynaud's at bay sufficiently to reduce how frequently you need to take nifedipine for Raynaud's episodes.
