Summer Warmth was created by Tara, a mother from Hamilton (New Zealand). She started making breastwarmers when she was pregnant with her second child and suffering from Raynaud's. The finished product was amazing and Tara felt sure that other women would benefit from them as she had. Further product testing occurred after her daughter's birth, and other products were sourced and created.

In early 2015 Summer Warmth changed owners and is currently owned by Sarah Hudson (IBCLC, La Leche League Leader, and mother).

In 2018, Summer Warmth expanded to provide in-home Lactation Consults with an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). In-home visits are for all parents, whether you are a breastfeeding mum, a chestfeeding dad, bodyfeeding non-binary person - these home visits are tailored to provide the support you need.
